Our founding story
Founded in 2016 by Alex Birch and Luke Murray, we are a Melbourne headquartered tech startup who has created the world’s most advanced workplace sensor. Our founders have previously founded and successfully exited other PropTech companies so we know what we’re doing. Our investors think so too. We’re backed by Blackbird Ventures, Australia’s most prominent venture capital fund (Canva, CultureAmp, SafetyCulture).
Our sensor’s stand-out in the market being the first of their kind, delivering huge (1000ft/95m2/20 desk) coverage per sensor, AI-powered floor plan accuracy down to 1ft every 2 seconds, and the most comprehensive real time tooling for workplace teams. Our technology is private by design (protecting people’s privacy) and we launched in July 2020 after having spent more than three years in stealth mode perfecting the computer vision sensor hardware. Since launch rapid international traction has been gained with our customers being some of the world’s largest employers and most recognisable brands.
Ultimately we are on a mission to use data and AI to transform the way humans, business and society as a whole understands and interacts with the built environment. Right now we’re focusing on making workplaces smart.
Life at XY Sense
We’re growing fast - and we are excited about it! We kicked off 2021 with our sensors installed in only Australia and we are now installed in 14 countries and counting.
Our HQ is based in Melbourne Australia, but we have a growing team in the US and a number of employees based in NSW.
Our team is made up of engineers (hardware and software), sales and customer facing reps, technical project managers, marketing and business support services. No matter our role, we all pitch in to make an impact to our team mates, but most importantly, our customers.
The coming year is going to be an exciting one for us. We have great backing from our investors and our customers are loving what we are delivering. It’s going to be a time of expansion and rolling out some exciting product developments. If this gets you fired up, we'd love to hear from you!
